Do I need an Alternator to run your EPD?

September 21, 2015
Description:

We get this question a lot.  If you are running only our electric drive systems, typically up to 16 rows can be operated using only tractor battery although sometimes older tractors running finger pickup meters will require an alternator.  For 24 row planters or larger, our standard installation kit includes a hydraulic alternator that provides the power for our electric drive systems.  This hydraulic alternator uses the hydraulic return line from the vacuum.  For customers utilizing Graham Command Pro for both electric drives and Graham Force, we normally begin installing hydraulic alternators starting at 12 row configurations. If you have questions, please consult a Graham Dealer.
